Partner Spotlight
Department of the Interior and Local Government – National Capital Region of the Philippines

Our partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government – National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) of the Philippines is vital for advancing leadership, governance, and community development capacity among local officials. Through joint training programs, study tours, and international exchanges, we provide DILG-NCR participants with global best practices and exposure to innovative governance models. This collaboration not only strengthens institutional capacity in the Philippines but also fosters long-term international relationships that enhance policy-making and service delivery at the local level.

Higher Education Partners
The Washington Global Institute evolved from an early partnership forged between two academic leaders committed to global education and international affairs: Washington College’s Tahir Shad, a professor of political science and international studies, and Gary Ador Dionisio, dean of De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde’s School of Diplomacy and Governance.
WGI now draws its partners in academia from such distinguished D.C. metropolitan- area institutions as Georgetown University, George Washington University, American University, George Mason University, University of Maryland, and Washington College. In the United Kingdom, our educational partners include Kings College, Oxford University and the London School of Economics and Political Science. In the Philippines, WGI’s academic partners include De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde, Philippine Public Safety College, Graduate School of Public Diplomacy and Management – Development Academy of the Philippines, and Philippine Public Safety College.

Practitioners
Companies and government agencies engaged in best practices can be powerful agents of change. And oftentimes the best teachers are experts in their respective fields.
Drawing on experts in our own communities, WGI has created partnerships with local practitioners in data analytics, emergency medicine, environmental management, urban planners, policing strategies, public safety, and smart technology, for instance. Delegates to London can make field visits to the Oxford County Council, Oxford City Council, and the Hansard Society for Parliamentary Government.

Think Tanks
Washington, D.C. is home to several of the nation’s top think tanks. These organizations can be catalysts for change as they raise awareness of key issues and show policymakers a way forward on any given topic. The WGI has connections to several of these changemakers.
